November 16 Meeting: Designing Bookcovers

blankbook_freeimagesA book’s cover is a key element for purchasing decisions by both booksellers and readers. In this session led by Waverly Fitzgerald, we will show how a great cover declares a book’s genre and theme. We’ll explore why book covers must follow current trends, including branding for series titles and for an author’s single-title books. These tactics are applicable for fiction or nonfiction publishers.

We’ll offer tips for how to work with a book designer, and provide handouts to help you negotiate a contract and supervise workflow so that you get the results you need to market a book.
