IBPA’s Affiliate Scholarship Program offers people interested in advancing their publishing program the chance to attend Publishing University free-of-charge. IBPA awards at least one complimentary ticket to Publishing University to each affiliate, each year.

Applications for the complimentary ticket are submitted online. After checking with each affiliate association to confirm membership, IBPA awards scholarships to the candidates who meet the established criteria.

Book Publishers Northwest is an affiliate of IBPA and we have a record of sending at least one award winner to their publishing university since the program began. Last year, two BPNW members, Laura Robb and Kathryn Dennis, received these scholarships. Dennis is currently organizing our January 2015 meeting to share some of what she learned in San Francisco.

In order to qualify, you must be a member of both IBPA and  Book Publishers Northwest for 2015. We encourage all our members to try for this award but please read IBPA’s qualifications carefully.  Apply here before Dec. 31.

And don’t forget to renew or join BPNW for 2015! We’d hate to tell IBPA that a scholarship applicant must be disqualified because they are not a member of Book Publishers Northwest. Information on joining BPNW can be found here.

2015 Publishing University

The 27th Annual Publishing University will be a two-day, must-attend, networking, and educational event focused specifically on issues important to indie publishers and self-published authors. The 2015 Publishing University takes place in Austin, Texas, in April. Scholarships winners are responsible for paying for their own travel and lodging.

BPNW will award stipends of up to $250 to members who have received scholarships if they complete either a 600-word essay about the experience for publication on the BPNW website or create an educational presentation geared toward independent publishers based on what they learned at Publishing University. Either the essay or the educational program must be completed and judged satisfactory by BPNW within one year after attending the Publishing University. Scholarship winners who do not complete these requirements forfeit the BPNW stipend but can still attend Publishing University for free.
