SIBA Renames Trade Show

The Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance have decided to revamp their annual trade show as “the Fall Discovery Show.” This year’s show will be held September 19 to 21 in Norfolk, VA. James Patterson is expected to be the keynote speaker.

SIBA represents over 300 bookstores and thousands of booksellers in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and Mississippi.

The show will shift between member cities, scheduled for Raleigh, NC, in 2015 and Savannah, GA, in 2016. The organization’s 40th anniversary show will be held in New Orleans in 2017.

Call For Authors For SIBA Fall Show 2014

Publishers can submit authors in consideration for special events to be held on Friday through Sunday, September 19-21, 2014 at the SIBA Fall Discovery Show in Norfolk, Virginia. Only publishers registered to exhibit at the SIBA Trade Show will be considered.

The newest titles are considered first for author appearances, i.e. books published or to be published in Fall of 2014 and the Winter of 2015 will receive first consideration.

SIBA organizers would like to see a good mix of contemporary fiction, nonfiction, biographic and children’s content as well as celebrity authors. Suggested authors will be considered as speakers for panels and readings and other events.

An administrative fee of $299 will be charged for each confirmed author appearance at the SIBA Trade Show.

Suggestions should be sent via email or fax (309-410-0211) or mail to: SIBA, 3806 Yale Ave., Columbia, SC 29205 before June 1, 2014. Questions should be addressed to Wanda Jewell at the SIBA office at 803-994-9530; wanda@sibaweb.com.
