The Port Townsend, WA, poetry publisher Copper Canyon hosted a packed “after hours” event at the Sorrento Hotel on Feb.27 as part of the Association of Writing Programs conference. The 2014 conference is being held in Seattle this week.
In a table at the back of the room, press representatives talked up Copper Canyon’s publishing internships to an interested crowd of recent graduates and MFA candidates.
Their three to five month internships are offered on a trimester schedule from January-May, June-August, and September-December. End dates are flexible. Interns spend a minimum of 24 hours/week in the office. The Winter Term Internship is offered for the full month of January and interns are expected to be in the office a full five days a week.
College students are welcome to apply for summer positions. Applicants not currently enrolled in school are encouraged to apply for Fall or Winter/Spring internships. All internships are unpaid and housing is the responsibility of the intern.
More information about this program is available at the Copper Canyon website.
