AWP 14 Arrives In Seattle

The Association of Writing Programs holds its 2014 Annual Conference & Bookfair in Seattle this month to celebrate the authors, teachers, students, independent literary presses and journals, creative writing programs, writing conferences and centers, and literary arts organizations.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Wyoming author Annie Proulx. Her novels and short stories have earned her a Pulitzer Prize, a National Book Award, the Irish Times International Fiction Prize, and a PEN/Faulkner award. Her story “Brokeback Mountain,” which originally appeared in the New Yorker, was made into an Academy Award-winning film.

More than 12,000 writers and readers, as well as over 650 exhibitors, are expected at the Washington State Convention Center Feb. 26 to March 1.  Conference badges run from $60 (student) to $255. More information on events is available at AWP website.  The bookfair is open to the public (no registration needed) on March 1.

The AWP book fair is open to the public at the Washington State Convention Center from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm, March 1.
