Big Anniversaries and A Closure for NW Bookstores

Auntie’s Bookstore in Spokane, WA, just finished a remodel and celebrates their 35th anniversary on Oct. 29. Both Annie Bloom’s Books in Portland, OR, and Island Books on Mercer Island, WA, celebrate major anniversaries next week.

Annie Bloom’s Books starts its 35th Anniversary celebration on Oct 29 with daily giveaways ending with a party on Nov. 1.

On Nov. 3, Island Books staff will share their stories from the store’s 40-year run at a 40th Anniversary Pie Potluck for their community.

However, La Conner, Washington’s The Next Chapter owner was unable to find a buyer for the store, which at the end of September. Owner Lisa Nielsen bought the store in 2008, but she decided to close to spend more time with her young family.
