For publishers of letterpress books, fine editions, and book art, the Seattle Antiquarian Bookfair offers an audience often as interested in a book’s physical make-up as its contents.
The Bookfair takes place each October at the Seattle Center. This year, it will be held on Oct. 12 and 13. The primary focus is rare books and antiquarian fare, with dealers coming from the East Coast and California as well as the Northwest. For many dealers, it is a place to acquire stock as well as sell it.
The Alcuin Society, in British Columbia, and the Book Club of Washington are two Northwest organizations devoted to “the past, present and future of fine books.” They usually are represented at this show or host events concurrent to it.
The exhibition space at the Bookfair tends to sell out early. Booths range from $500 (half) to $1,000 (premium spot). Potential exhibitors are encouraged to contact Bookfair organizers to discuss possible availability of space.
