Pacific Northwest Writing Conferences: July Events

Fort Worden, Washington

Book Publishers Northwest takes a summer break from meetings, but our members are usually out and about at these events. Both the Centrum and Denman conferences look like a great way to combine a road trip and scenic sightseeing with some classes on the craft of writing.

Feel free to send in suggestions for August events to bpnwnews at

Centrum Writers Conference, July 7-14 & July 14-21

The Conference offers morning workshops, afternoon workshops, residencies, guided freewrites, and a readings and lectures series presented by instructors. The tuition ranges from $50 to $695. Room and board options range from $125 to $600 at the historic Fort Worden State Park.

Denman Readers & Writers Festival, July 18-21

PNWA Summer Conference, July 25-28
SeaTac, WA
The Pacific Northwest Writers Association holds a huge summer conference every year. With several tracks of programming, the conference focuses on how to write, how to query agents, and how to be traditionally published. The conference also has “pitch sessions” available for those ready to do this. The $495 to $595 fee includes continental breakfast, snacks, and dinner. Online registration closes July 19. No walk-up registrations.
