The Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association (PNBA) posted today the Call for Authors for their 2013 Fall Trade show. The show will be held in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, October 6 – 8. Proposals for an author appearance should be sent directly to Thom Chambliss, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chambliss noted that this is an excellent year for a publisher to sponsor an author tour of the region. The PNBA show is sandwiched in between two other regional shows, with the Northern California Independent Booksellers Association (NCIBA) show in South San Francisco on Thursday and Friday, Oct 3 – 4; and the Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association (MPIBA) show in Denver on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct 10 – 12. In addition, the largest public book show in the Northwest, Wordstock, will be held at the Oregon Convention in Portland Thursday through Sunday, October 3 – 6.
“If you plan your author’s schedule well, you might be able to schedule her or him for appearances at all three regional shows, and Wordstock, all within one week’s time,” said Chambliss. “There are several direct flights from San Francisco to Portland each day, and several from Portland to Denver each day. I promise that I will do my best to accommodate those authors who are trying to schedule appearances at all three (or four!) shows.”
