Mary Ann Kohl teaches art seminar


MaryAnn Kohl gives workshops which include hands-on art ideas and activities for teaching children of all ages.

MaryAnn Kohl will be speaking on how children’s art influences their literacy at the Southwestern Child Care Resource and Referral Agency Annual Conference. The May 19 conference will include a full day seminar with four hours of working at twenty hands-on art stations.

In 2012, Kohl and her publishing company Bright Ring celebrate twenty-seven years of producing art activities books for children. Kohl currently serves on the board of the Independent Book Publishers Association and is a member of Book Publishers Northwest.

The Bellingham, WA, resident presents at workshops and keynotes around the country for teachers and librarians interested in teaching art with young children. Kohl served as a consultant for a children’s activity television show produced by the Jim Henson Company (Odyssey Network) and has appeared Home Matters on the Discovery Channel, Take Part! (Canadian children’s television) as the ‘Mudworks lady’, and was a featured guest on 1, 2, 3 Grow! (Health Network). In addition, she consults for Fisher-Price, and works with SUNY-Albany as one of their expert guests for numerous educational video conferences. A columnist for Family Fun magazine, she also writes for numerous other magazines including Parenting, Cricket, Scholastic, Early Childhood News, and Daycaring.
