Sept. 17 meeting: e-books

Neelan Choksi will be our speaker for the September 17 meeting of Book Publishers Northwest at the Good Shepherd Center, 4649 Sunnyside Avenue North. We are currently meeting in room 221.

Choksi is the CEO of Lexcycle, acquired by Amazon in April, 2009, and the company behind Stanza. With over 2.0 million users in over 60 countries and over 12 million eBooks downloaded, Stanza is the most popular eBook reader for the iPhone and IPod Touch. Neelan is a graduate of MIT (and was part of the often-publicized MIT Blackjack team), Stevens Institute of Technology, and the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business.

Neelan frequently speaks about eBooks (including at this year’s Pub U) and will be providing BPNW with background information on eBooks, their importance to the business of books as well as giving some insight into where the eBook business is heading.

Directions:
The Good Shepherd Center is located at 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N. in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. From the 45th or 50th N.E. exits, it is about eight blocks west of I-5.
