October 18 Meeting Round-Up: Printing Questions Answered And Members’ News

Despite the windstorm outside, BPNW members gathered on October 18 to have their printing questions answered by Marty Gilliland, West Coast Regional Sales Manager of United Graphics. Those who missed the meeting can still address their questions to Gilliland via e-mail at marty.gilliland@comcast.net.

David Ash offered to take members’ marketing materials to the Tacoma Word literary festival on November 3. Bob Powers of Rodnik and Celeste Bennett of Bennett & Hastings have volunteered to help at the BPNW table at this event. Further information was sent to members via the “members only” e-news. If you are not receiving the “members only” invitations, you may not have paid your membership for 2007 or 2008, or you may not have a working e-mail on file. To check the status of your membership, e-mail bpnwnews@aol.com.

Tom Blashko of Idyll Arbor, Bette Filley of Dunamis House, and Bob Powers are teaming up to run a joint display for their respective companies at Portland’s Wordstock later in November. Although BPNW does not have a “group” display at this show, we are considering this for 2008 and would like to hear feedback from members who go to Wordstock about this event. If you’re interested in having a display at Wordstock, we understand that booth space is still available. The contacts for Wordstock are Katherine Pfeiffer at Katherine@wordstockfestival.com or Greg Netzer at greg@wordstockfestival.com, or call 503-546-1012.

We concluded the October 18 meeting with the usual round of announcements from members. Filley reported that she has had success with listing her books with the Southern Review of Books Catalog. The Southern Review is currently accepting listings for its 2007/08 Winter Catalog. The cost is $15 per listing. Listings for the Winter Catalog close November 15. More information can be found at
